Weekly publication NIN has sought that the authorities determine the identity of the author of a message posted on Twitter that practically calls for the murder of Vesna Mališić, deputy editor-in-chief of this weekly. The threats against Mališić were condemned by domestic journalists’ associations and Reporters Without Borders.
The Serbian Interior Ministry announced that it is working intensively, in cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor for High-Tech Crime, to establish the identity of the person who issued the threats against Vesna Mališić.
The same prosecutor’s office has filed criminal charges in response to threats issued on Twitter against Milica Šarić, editor-in-chief of the Centre for Investigative Reporting of Serbia (CINS), and for threats against this investigative portal that were posted on Facebook.
