A team of TV N1 was denied access to a church in Srbobran where representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church and politicians were commemorating the 79th anniversary of the killing of 4,500 Serbs, Jews and Roma by fascist forces.
According to a statement of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the N1 team didn’t announce its arrival in advance and wasn’t invited to attend by the organisers, despite this being a public event that the media were invited to report on. In its statement, the Serbian Orthodox Church accused the N1 team of leading a witch hunt against the church.
The denying of the N1 team from reporting has been condemned by the Association of Journalists of Serbia, the Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia and other media and journalist associations.
