Confusion Over Media Strategy Mistakenly Sent to the European Commission

August 16, 2019

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić has admitted that her cabinet mistakenly sent to the European Commission in Brussels the Draft of the new Media Strategy – the document regulating the most important directions in the development of the country’s media sector over the next five years.

The country’s media community, which participated in the creation of the Draft Media Strategy, was shocked to discover that the document had been sent to Brussels in a modified form compared to the document previously adopted by the working group, which had spent months working on it.

The Prime Minister then called on press associations to again submit comments regarding the document sent to the European Commission.

The largest news and media associations told the Prime Minister that they would continue working on the document once the European Commission’s opinion on the Media Strategy arrives.
