Daško Milinović, who together with Mladen Mlađa Urdarević hosts the popular podcast “Alarm with Daško and Mlađa”, suffered light injuries during a physical attack in Novi Sad. He was first sprayed with tear gas by two attackers and then hit on the arm with a bar. The attack provoked stormy reactions from domestic and international journalists’ organisations, which are demanding a swift reaction from the police and the prosecution.
The police identified and arrested one of the attackers (the other is at large), but also the organiser of the attack, in record time.
A right-wing organisation based in Novi Sad attached posters to the building that houses Radio 021 and the 021.rs portal. These posters associate these media outlets with the so-called autonomists (supporters of the broader autonomy of the northern province of Vojvodina), who have been increasingly equated with separatists in recent years.
Verica Marinčić, a journalist of Inđija-based portal IN media, has received insulting messages with threatening elements on Facebook, in response to news reported on the portal that she is working on with regard to the upcoming amendment to the Constitution of Serbia. Marinčić has previously been a target of insults and threats, and even found herself being followed and subjected to demands.
