Prosecutors investigating 10 cases of threats against journalists

February 28, 2021

Public prosecutor’s offices throughout Serbia formed 12 cases this January related to 12 events during which threats were made against 11 journalists. Two of the cases relate to Jelena Zorić, a multi-award winning journalist of TV N1, who was recently decorated by President Aleksandar Vučić as part of celebrations marking Statehood Day.

Speaking at a meeting with Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, Culture and Information Minister Maja Gojković and members of the Working Group for the Security and Protection of Journalists, Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor Branko Stamenković said that prosecutors are working on 10 of the 12 formed cases, while in the two remaining cases it has been estimated that there is no place to initiate criminal proceedings.
