Convicted for violent conduct against OK Radio

October 17, 2022

The Basic Court in Vranje has sentenced local businessman Dejan Nikolić Kantar to 14 months in prison for the crime of violent conduct against Vranje-based OK Radio.

Employees of this radio station spent months subjected to mounting pressure from Nikolić and his associates, due to their opposition – as Reporters Without Borders recently warned – to Nikolić’s plan to build an illegal casino that would encroach on the building that houses OK radio.

Messrs Slaviša Kocić and Bojan Tanasković have each received eight-month prison sentences for acting as accomplices in threats issued via telephone, which have been ongoing since 1st June, and for intimidation by walling up and spray painting the premises of the No Comment cafe, which forms part of the radio station.
