Yesterday, the public part of the Court of Appeal session was finished in the appeal against the judgment of the first-instance court in the proceedings for the murder of journalist and publisher Slavko \u0106uruvija in 1999 as the attorney and two accused former officers of the secret service stated their appeal.<\/h2>\n

Two defendants accused of the organisation and murder of \u0106uruvija, Milan Radonji\u0107 and Ratko Romi\u0107, as well as their attorney, claimed there was no evidence of their guilt and demanded acquittal.<\/p>\n

The accused, Radomir Markovi\u0107, the former head of the secret service during former President Slobodan Milo\u0161evi\u0107, failed to show up before the Court of Appeal again, notifying the court that he was ill.<\/p>\n

In the next two days, the Court of Appeal will examine the appeals of all proceedings parties in the session that will be closed to the public. The court will notify all parties in the proceedings of its decision, however, it was said there was no deadline for that.<\/p>\n

We would like to recall that the Special Court for Organized Crime adopted the same judgment twice in the course of the eight-year proceedings, convicting four former members of the State Security Service to, in total, 100 years of prison.<\/p>\n

The Court of Appeal overturned the first judgment and ordered a retrial.<\/p>\n

Although the indictment mentions former President Milo\u0161evi\u0107 and his wife, Mirjana Markovi\u0107, as the persons who ordered the murder, they were not the subjects of the proceedings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
