{"id":7081,"date":"2021-12-31T13:07:05","date_gmt":"2021-12-31T12:07:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.slavkocuruvijafondacija.rs\/?p=7081"},"modified":"2022-01-17T13:08:16","modified_gmt":"2022-01-17T12:08:16","slug":"action-launched-to-assist-milan-jovanovic-while-police-assess-whether-his-safety-is-under-threat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slavkocuruvijafondacija.rs\/en\/action-launched-to-assist-milan-jovanovic-while-police-assess-whether-his-safety-is-under-threat\/","title":{"rendered":"Action launched to assist Milan Jovanovi\u0107, while police assess whether his safety is under threat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>December 31, 2021<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>The Working Group for the Security and Protection of Journalists, which was established in late 2020 by the Government of Serbia, has expressed its dissatisfaction over the fact that the decision of the Belgrade Court of Appeal to rescind the verdict in the case of the arson attack on the home of Milan Jovanovi\u0107 was not submitted to all relevant parties in a timely manner.<\/h2>\n<p>An announcement released from an extraordinary meeting of the Group insisted that it is essential a final verdict be reached in this case as soon as possible, and that it is extremely important that the repeated procedure be conducted efficiently, given the course of the case to date and its excessive duration.<\/p>\n<p>The trial for the arson attack on Jovanovi\u0107\u2019s house began in May 2019, while the first-instance verdict convicting three of the four accused was only brought in February 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The Working Group supported an initiative to organise a solidarity campaign over the course of the next month to raise the 2.5 million dinars required to reconstruct Jovanovi\u0107\u2019s firebombed house.<\/p>\n<p>The Serbian Interior Ministry accepted the Working Group\u2019s proposal that an assessment of Jovanovi\u0107\u2019s security be conducted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 31, 2021 The Working Group for the Security and Protection of Journalists, which was established in late 2020 by the Government of Serbia, has expressed its dissatisfaction over the fact that the decision of the Belgrade Court of Appeal to rescind the verdict in the case of the arson attack on the home of Milan Jovanovi\u0107 was not submitted to all relevant parties in a timely manner.
