{"id":5669,"date":"2020-05-15T12:50:09","date_gmt":"2020-05-15T10:50:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.slavkocuruvijafondacija.rs\/?p=5669"},"modified":"2020-07-15T12:55:50","modified_gmt":"2020-07-15T10:55:50","slug":"ruling-party-mps-reported-for-illegally-leading-tv-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.slavkocuruvijafondacija.rs\/en\/ruling-party-mps-reported-for-illegally-leading-tv-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Ruling party MPs reported for illegally leading TV show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>May 15, 2020<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>The Slavko \u0106uruvija Foundation has filed a complaint with the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media, REM, against cable channel\u00a0<em>TV Kopernikus\u00a0<\/em>in response to its broadcasting of a show authored by MP and ruling Serbian Progressive Party official Vladimir \u0110ukanovi\u0107.<\/h2>\n<p>The law and internal regulations of the Regulatory Body explicitly prohibit such an engagement by all party officials or prominent representatives of particular political parties.<\/p>\n<p>In response, REM Council member Olivera Zeki\u0107 stated that\u00a0<em>TV Kopernikus\u00a0<\/em>would be ordered to cancel the show that&#8217;s hosted by \u0110ukanovi\u0107 until the end of the election campaign.<\/p>\n<p>In a reaction to this statement, Slavko \u0106uruvija Foundation Executive Director Ivana Stevanovi\u0107 noted that the S\u0106F is not seeking the cancellation of the show only during the campaign, but rather permanently \u2013 given that the REM Regulations relate to the behaviour of television channels under all circumstances, and not only during campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the show a few days later, \u0110ukanovi\u0107 informed his viewers that he would not be hosting the show until the end of the election campaign, anticipating the REM ban, though it has yet to be imposed.<\/p>\n<p><em>TV Kopernikus<\/em>\u00a0is owned by Sr\u0111an Milovanovi\u0107, who has close ties to the Serbian Progressive Party and who bought two television companies with national coverage at the end of 2018 for a price of 180 million euros:\u00a0<em>TV Prva\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>TV B92<\/em>\u00a0(formerly TV O2).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>May 15, 2020 The Slavko \u0106uruvija Foundation has filed a complaint with the Regulatory Body for Electronic Media, REM, against cable channel\u00a0TV Kopernikus\u00a0in response to its broadcasting of a show authored by MP and ruling Serbian Progressive Party official Vladimir \u0110ukanovi\u0107.
